The ACS Gas Diploma Training Course (Managed Learning Programme) is for new entrants to the gas industry and operatives with relevant experience wishing to increase their knowledge and understanding of the gas industry.
On successful completion of the ACS Gas Diploma Training Course (Managed Learning Programme), candidates will be awarded a Cert-ain certificate of achievement and operatives will be able to progress onto the Initial ACS Assessment (please see ACS Assessment for more information).
Course structure:
The course is delivered over 1 day a week and you will be in a group of up to 6 people. As part of the above course, you will cover the following topics:
- Combustion and combustion performance analysis
- Purging
- Tightness testing
- Gas rating and heat inputs
- Unsafe situations
- Medium pressure regulators
- Gas safety controls
- Flues and chimneys (including flue flow and spillage testing)
- Ventilation
- Electrical checks including safe isolation
- Gas safety regulations
- Pipework installation and testing
- Pipe sizing
- Health and safety
The course includes a combination of practical and theory training and assessments, aligned to the ACS assessment.
For successful completion of the ACS Gas Diploma Training Course (Managed Learning Programme) you are required to work alongside a registered Gas Safe Registered company or person, providing a portfolio of onsite experience and evidence proving competency in some/all of the following elements:
- Boilers
- Water heaters
- Cookers
- Fires
Please note: ACS Initial Assessment elements will depend on successful completion of individual elements of the ACS Gas Diploma Training Course (Managed Learning Programme).
Successful candidates will be awarded a Cert-ain certificate of achievement, this will enable you to progress onto the ACS Initial Assessment which in turns will enable you to apply to Gas Safe to become a registered engineer.
Prerequisites:
Candidates wishing to take the ACS Gas Diploma Training Course (Managed Learning Programme) must be familiar with the plumbing and heating industry and are currently working under the supervision and training of a Gas Safe Registered company or person.

We offer the ACS Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) including Combustion Performance Analysis (CPA1) Initial Assessment course for engineers whose CCN1 has lapsed for more than 12 months and new entrants to the gas industry
All gas installers must be Gas Safe Registered by law, and the course covers the necessary training and assessment requirements to allow you to renew or register your qualifications and maintain your Gas Safe Registration.
The course can be taken as a stand-alone course or in conjunction with the following additional appliances (at an additional cost):
- Domestic central heating / hot water boilers and circulators, combination boilers, storage water heaters and instantaneous water heaters (CENWAT)
- Domestic gas fires and wall heaters (HTR1)
- Domestic cooking appliances, including range cookers and hobs (CKR1)
- Domestic gas meters (MET1)
The CPA1 (Combustion Performance Analysis module) is now an integral part of the CCN1 Core module. Although this is still available as a stand-alone element and can be provided (at an additional cost) by Gasmark Training and Assessment.
On successful achievement of the course, candidates will be awarded a Cert-ain certificate of achievement, and this will enable you to renew your Gas Safe registration or new entrants to the industry will be able to apply to Gas Safe to become a registered engineer and work within the gas industry. For candidates who are gas engineers whose existing CCN1 has lapsed by more than 12 months and wishing to take the ACS Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) including Combustion Performance Analysis (CPA1) Initial Assessment course you candidates must already hold an expired CCN1, COCN1or CCCN1 qualification including any additional appliances.
For candidates that are new to the gas industry and wishing to take the ACS Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) including Combustion Performance Analysis (CPA1) Initial Assessment course you will need to have successfully achieved an approved prior learning programme such as the ACS Gas Diploma Training Course (Managed Learning Programme).

Understand and determine the ambient levels of carbon monoxide (CO) and the presence of carbon dioxide (CO2) in domestic properties.
The course covers identification of the appliance which caused the fumes using a portable electronic combustion analyser and the guidance and procedures outlined in the relevant British Standards.
On successful achievement of the course, candidates will be awarded a Cert-ain certificate of achievement and operatives will be able to work on CO and CO2 issues within in domestic properties once registered with Gas Safe.

The course is delivered over 1 day, and you will be in a group of up to 6 people. As part of the course, you will cover the following topics:
- Carrying out ambient CO and CO2 testing.
- Overview and testing procedures in accordance with of BS EN 7967:2015 Part 1 – 4.
- Combustion performance analysis using electronic portable gas analysers on domestic gas appliances in dwellings following: Indication of fumes, smells, spillage or leakage of combustion product, and carbon monoxide detector activation.

Course Overview:
Changeover of domestic natural gas to LPG including PD
The LPG Changeover and Categories course is for experienced operatives who already hold either Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety (CCN1) or Core Commercial Gas Safety (COCN1) and wish to work on LPG fired appliances in Permanent Dwellings. The course covers the installation, servicing, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of LPG appliances within permanent dwellings.
On successful achievement of the course, candidates will be awarded a Cert-ain certificate of achievement and operatives can work on the appliances already held on their Gas Safe registration, with the addition of Liquid Petroleum Gas.
LPG for Residential Park Homes
The LPG Changeover and Categories course is for experienced operatives who already hold either Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety (CCN1) or Core Commercial Gas Safety (COCN1) and wish to work on LPG fired appliances in Residential Park Homes. The course covers the installation, servicing, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of LPG appliances within residential park homes.
On successful completion of the course, candidates will be awarded a Cert-ain certificate of achievement and operatives can work on the appliances already held on their Gas Safe registration, with the addition of Liquid Petroleum Gas in Residential Park Homes.
